Disaster for Manchester United as Lisandro Martinez injured again, two players will miss FA Cup semi-final

Erik ten Hag has just been handed another massive injury blow, just as his woes were easing with two players now out of the FA Cup semi-final.

Manchester United have suffered more than anyone else this season on the injury front, and now yet another blow has been dealt.

For much of this season, the defence has been plagued by injuries with countless combinations being fielded to make up for the continual crisis.

Recently, though, it seemed as though these concerns were easing across the pitch.

Both Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire returned from injury concerns against Brentford in defence while Casemiro and Mason Mount were other notable returns.

But now, in what is a bitterly disappointing development, United have just been dealt another pair of injuries at a pivotal time in the campaign.

Here’s what has happened…

Manchester United handed a double injury blow

Breaking news on Tuesday night out of Old Trafford is that both Martinez and Victor Lindelof will now miss at least a month due to muscle injuries.

Martinez’s is thought to be a calf strain, an entirely new issue for the Argentine who has been plagued by injury over the past year.

This has been confirmed by club media which is a huge disappointment with so many important games on the horizon including the upcoming FA Cup semi-final.

It is added however that both players are aiming for a return before the end of the season, which is something to take as a positive.

However, this does only further explain why Ineos are desperate to recruit centre-backs this summer.

Lisandro Martinez’s nightmare season continues

For Lindelof this injury comes at a really costly time, as many assume he’s fighting for his United career this summer.

But Martinez will be the one most gutted, as he’s endured a horrific run of injuries over the past year which began with his broken metatarsal last April.

He’s also missed the majority of this season, making a return in February, only be be out again with a knee problem before he could even get a run of games.

Now this latest blow comes after just one game back, football can be a cruel sport at times.

We hope both are fit and firing again soon, and hopefully back for a cup final in May.
