A day after Virginia Tech’s All-American point guard Georgia Amoore entered her name into the transfer portal, one of her former teammates did the same.

6-foot-5 freshman center Clara Strack has also put her name into the portal, according to Mitchell Northam. Strack has been labeled with a “do not contact” tag, which typically means the player already knows which college they are choosing next or at least have a select amount of options to choose from.

Of course, this is notable because Kentucky women’s basketball’s new head coach Kenny Brooks was officially introduced last week after an eight-year run as Virginia Tech’s head coach. Amoore was also labeled with a “do not contact” tag.

The assumption is that Strack and Amoore will join Brooks at Kentucky when it’s all said and done. However, no decisions have been announced at this time. David Cunningham, who covers Virginia Tech for TechSideline, posted to social media shortly after news broke of Strack’s transfer that he “would expect (Strack) to follow Brooks to Kentucky.”

As a freshman this past season, Strack averaged 4.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13.8 minutes per contest. She shot 56.4 percent from the field and 60.5 percent from the line. The native of New York appeared in 33 games for the Hokies, starting two of them. It’s actually those two starts that the Big Blue Nation should put extra stock in.

Once Virginia Tech lost three-time ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley to injury, Strack stepped into the starting role beginning with the NCAA Tournament. She recorded 17 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and two assists in 28 minutes during a 92-49 win over Marshall in the opening round. Then, against Baylor in the Round of 32 — a 75-72 loss — she posted 18 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Kentucky WBB has consistently lacked an interior presence during both the Kyra Elzy and Matthew Mitchell eras. Adding Strack, a former Top 100 ESPN recruit, to the 2024-25 roster would immediately remedy that.
