Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 3

In Ukraine, 75 combat engagements took place in the frontline over the last day. Russia has intensified attacks in the Lyman direction and continues to put pressure on the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Avdiivka and Novopavlivka directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian attacks

In total, the Russians launched 2 missile and 78 air strikes, fired 66 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Many multi-story buildings and other civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged.

At night, the Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine using 4 Shahed UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 4 UAVs.

Over the past day, the following localities were hit by air strikes:

  • Volfyne, Oleksandrivka, Novoselytsia, Krasnopillia in Sumy region;
  • Synkivka, Lyptsi in Kharkiv region;
  • Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske in Luhansk region;
  • Terny, Yampolivka, Hryhorivka, Stupochky, Berdychi, Kurdiumivka, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Karlivka, Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Vodiane, Vuhledar in Donetsk region;
  • Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region.

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.

Situation at frontlines

The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissia direction.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske direction, the Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increase the density of minefields along the state border.

In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack near the village of Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russians, supported by aviation, tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 Russian attacks near Terny, Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 6 Russian attacks near Spirne and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russians were trying to improve their tactical position.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 attacks near Berdychi, Semenivka, Umanske, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the Russians, supported by air power, tried to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the Russians near Novomykhailivka and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the Russians tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 24 times.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Russians made 4 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Staromayorske in the Donetsk region, Robotyne, and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Russians do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Over the past day, he attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 8 times.

Enemy losses

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 1 anti-aircraft missile system and 13 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.

Ukrainian missile troops struck 6 areas of concentration of Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 8 artillery systems, 1 anti-tank vehicle, and 1 multiple-launch rocket system.

On the night of April 3, Russian Shahed drones attacked Ukraine again. The drones flew from the south to Kyiv region, turned west, and crossed Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and part of Ternopil regions, where they were destroyed by Ukrainian Air Defense Forces.

According to ISW, the drone attack on the Tatarstan oil refinery indicates a turning point in Ukraine's strategy of striking at Russia's rear.
