‘Very predictable’: Pundit claims 28-year-old Man City star just does the same thing every week

Don Hutchison has claimed that one Manchester City player has become very predictable on the pitch.

This season has seen the Citizens use 25 players in their games, leaving only West Ham United (24) in the Premier League having used fewer.

As the Blues head into a vital stage of the campaign, one pundit has highlighted one of those 25 players for being rather ineffective for his side.

Speaking in a recent edition of The Gab & Juls Show, Hutchison had this to say about Jack Grealish and what he does on the ball after seeing the attacker come on as a second-half substitute in City’s recent 0-0 draw against Arsenal.

He said: “Grealish was disappointing. Grealish is starting to become very predictable now. Watching Jack Grealish, I don’t know if it’s a lack of confidence, he doesn’t take players on.

“He’s very predictable, he gets it on his right foot, he squares the right-back up and just goes back inside.

“I know why he does it, I spoke to Jacob Murphy at Newcastle about it and he says the reason why they do that, why they play Grealish on the left is you’re trying to suck all the players over to that side for the big transition over to the other side. But then when he came on, he didn’t really do much.”

After playing a prominent role in City’s Treble-winning season last term, the winger has struggled to get regular game time this time around due to injuries, tactical reasons and issues away from the game.

With 28 appearances and 20 starts to his name across all competitions, the 28-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists.

This isn’t the first time a pundit has questioned Grealish’s style of play, as Graeme Souness has previously shared his lack of admiration for the way the winger plays.

However, if the England international is playing how Pep Guardiola tells him to, as he must have done last season to have been so prominent in such key periods, Grealish shouldn’t be too concerned with what certain pundits make of the way he plays, in our view.
