Brendan Rodgers set for another major Celtic injury boost ahead of Glasgow Derby

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will be keen to ensure he has as many options as possible to choose from during the season run-in.

Last weekend, Reo Hatate and Liam Scales were among those to return to the fold after injury concerns before the international break.

Cameron Carter-Vickers looks to be fully fit, and if all goes to plan, Callum McGregor has a fighting chance of being involved in this weekend’s Glasgow Derby.

Of course, this weekend’s clash between the Scottish Premiership’s top two could have significant permutations in the title race, and a win for Celtic could offer Rodgers’ men a four-point advantage.

Should we draw at Ibrox, there will still be a chance to dispose of any lead Rangers glean from their trip to Dundee the following Wednesday in the reverse fixture at Parkhead after the split.

On the flip side, a loss for the Bhoys wouldn’t make for great reading, though our manager has lost just once in 15 matches against Rangers, which can hopefully bode well in Govan.

Celtic receive major Luis Palma injury boost

According to The Sun, Celtic could be boosted by the return of Luis Palma for this weekend’s Glasgow Derby, as he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a muscle injury.

The outlet claim the Honduras international will be involved in training as the Bhoys prepare to face their rivals, and if he comes through unscathed, the 24-year-old is almost a certainty to be included in Rodgers’ matchday squad.

Palma has made a notable impact since joining from Aris last summer, registering nine goals and ten assists in 30 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Per Fotmob, he has also been the Hoops’ chief creator of chances on league duty, fashioning 12 big opportunities.

Celtic will have near a full-strength squad to pick from if Palma does feature on Sunday, with Odin Thiago Holm and Maik Nawrocki the only noteworthy absentees.
