Coventry beat Leeds to £3.4m signing in July, he’ll be looking to stop Farke’s main man on Saturday - opinion

Leeds United face another big game in their automatic promotion push on Saturday with a trip to Coventry City.

This is one of the toughest remaining fixtures of Leeds‘ last six matches of the season with Coventry sat just outside the play-off places, and in the FA Cup semi-finals.

It looks set to be another monumental weekend in the battle for the top two, with Ipswich Town playing first in their East Anglian derby away at Norwich City. Leicester, meanwhile, host a Birmingham side fighting for their lives under interim boss Gary Rowett.

Coventry are the only side to have stopped Leeds picking up maximum points from each one of their last 17 home matches, earning a 1-1 draw in a feisty affair at Elland Road.

Crysencio Summerville was on the scoresheet that day for Leeds but the Sky Blues’ aggressive approach was able to get under his skin, and it is likely to be the same again on Saturday.

After a nice 12-day rest over the international period, Summerville has comeback since the resumption of the club season firing, with two goals in as many appearances.

Dan James believes the 22-year-old almost single-handedly dragged Leeds to four points over the Easter period, and he will be keen to get his revenge on Coventry this weekend.

Summerville will be coming directly up against one of Coventry’s best players down the left-hand-side, who is also a former teammate from Netherlands U21s – Milan van Ewijk.

Van Ewijk made the move to Coventry last summer in a deal said to be worth around £3.4 million, and was also said to have been on the radar of Leeds.

Leeds were in the market for a new right-back but waited until the very latter stages of the window to bring in Djed Spence, which meant they missed out on van Ewijk.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a really good debut season at Coventry with two goals and five assists, and is likely to be playing as a wing-back on Saturday.

Coming up against one of his Dutch compatriots in Summerville, he will be desperate to do all he can to stop him, but certainly faces a big battle given the form of the Leeds star.

Watford interim boss Tom Cleverley labelled him as the best player in the Championship after last Friday’s match at Vicarage Road, a game in which he scored an absolute thunderbolt.

He also won and scored the penalty which saw off Hull City late on earlier this week, showing how confident he currently is by pulling rank on Joel Piroe.

Given how the last meeting went against Coventry, Summerville will undoubtedly be up for this one at the weekend.
