17-year-old Liverpool youngster emulated Mohamed Salah last month, he’s now on Jurgen Klopp’s radar

Liverpool’s 17-year-old youngster emulated Mohamed Salah last month and he’s now pushing on Jurgen Klopp’s door.

When it comes to Liverpool there has been one man who has set the benchmark for the Reds. Mohamed Salah has become not just an icon but a role model for many.

The Egyptian has broken one record after another and has created indelible memories. For most of Liverpool’s young supporters growing up now, he is the person they look up to the most.

At 31-years-old, he is also the kind of senior figure in the squad who Liverpool’s young players look to for inspiration. In training sessions, on the pitch and behind the scenes as well.

He is someone who has taken to that role. It’s been well noted that he took a close arm around Harvey Elliott when he first arrived in the first team, and has been doing that with others youngsters as well.

Who emulated Mohamed Salah for Liverpool’s U18 side?

Last month Liverpool took on Leeds United in the U18 Premier League in a game which ultimately ended in a 3-1 defeat. However, there was one bright spark in the match.

17-year-old Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison received a through ball from Kyle Kelly on the right flank. Morrison then ran forward with the ball, beating one defender, rounding the goalkeeper, and just when it seemed like he had taken the ball a touch too far, he cleverly scored from a tight angle.

The moment has since been nominated for Liverpool’s Goal of the Month for March. It was impressive skill by Morrison to run past his opponents and an even better finish.

This was the kind of goal Mohamed Salah has made his trademark over the years in Liverpool’s first team. And it’s no surprise that Morrison has now earned the attention of the club’s first team as well.

Who is Kieran Morrison and why is he on Klopp’s radar?

Morrison was signed from Manchester United at U14 level. He is a highly rated attacking minded player who has been deployed on the right-wing for Liverpool’s U18 team this season.

Full of skills, and an excellent finisher, Morrison currently has 12 goal contributions in 15 games for the club’s U18 side in the U18 Premier League.

He represents Northern Ireland at international level, just like Conor Bradley in Liverpool’s first team, and is also capable of playing in midfield.

Last week Morrison was called into first team training and spent time working in front of Jurgen Klopp and alongside Salah in the AXA training centre. He’s clearly making good strides and is definitely one to watch.
