How Chelsea and Man Utd could now have a big say in Arsenal striker transfer plans

Arsenal have now been warned that their search for a new striker this summer could be impacted by Chelsea and Manchester United.

It is no secret that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new goalscorer.

The north London club have been linked with a host of strikers ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus’ struggles in front of goal this season may prompt Mikel Arteta into making a new striker signing his top transfer priority this summer. The Brazilian has endured another injury hit campaign, and has only managed four strikes in twenty Premier League outings.

Jesus has vowed to make changes to his game in an effort to become more prolific. In truth, though, the 27-year-old has never been a goal machine, and he is unlikely to be able to improve a great deal in this regard at this stage in his career.

In recent weeks, however, Kai Havertz has impressed up front for the north London club. The German’s emergence as an effective target man for the Gunners may cause Arteta and sporting director Edu to rethink their transfer plans.

The Gunners’ Premier League rivals could also have a huge say in which attackers the north London outfit can tempt to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal told Chelsea and Manchester United plot to spoil summer plans

As reported by journalist Ben Jacobs, writing in his Daily Briefing, “Arsenal are also looking at RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, and could face competition from both Chelsea and Manchester United. And Bologna’s in-form Joshua Zirkzee has also been discussed internally – a player AC Milan are tracking too.”

“Arsenal have been long-linked with Brentford’s Ivan Toney, but I don’t think he’s now necessarily top of their list of targets, partly due to age and cost. It’s the same with Chelsea as well and has been for quite some time, and that might be good news for Manchester United.”

In many ways, Arsenal are currently a far more attractive club to sign for at this point in time. Whilst Arteta’s side are genuine Premier League title contenders, and are about to compete in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Chelsea are languishing in mid-table, and Manchester United look set to miss out in the race for a top four finish.

However, the Blues and the Red Devils both have the financial muscle to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal in the transfer window.

Mikel Arteta needs Gabriel Jesus to step up now

For now, though, full focus will remain on the final few weeks of the current campaign. Arsenal now need Jesus to step up as a goalscorer more than ever. If the former Manchester City man can hit a purple patch at this stage in the campaign then that could make all the difference in the title race.

The Gunners need all the goals they can get right now. They face a tough run-in, and given the points target that Arsenal have been set by Jamie Carragher to become champions, they have almost no margin for error left available to them.
