‘One of my best memories’: Phil Foden shares one Man City moment he absolutely loved from last season

Phil Foden has shared one of his favourite moments from Manchester City’s Treble-winning season.

The previous campaign was arguably the best in the Manchester club’s history, which saw them lift their fifth Premier League trophy in six years as well as the FA Cup and their first Champions League.

Now though, one prominent member of Pep Guardiola’s squad has shared one moment from last season that sticks out to him as being particularly memorable.

Speaking in the second episode of the Together: Treble Winners documentary series on Netflix, Foden had this to say about scoring a hat-trick against Manchester United in City’s 6-3 win over their rivals in the Premier League back in October 2022.

He said: “First hat-trick against Man United, at home as well, I don’t think it gets much better than that. It definitely sticks out for one of my best memories in a City shirt.”

The Englishman wasnt the only City player to score a hat-trick in that game as Erling Haaland also put three goals past the Red Devils on the day.

Throughout the game, the Citizens racked up 22 attempts at goal with 10 shots on target in total, highlighting how much more dominant they were than United in an attacking sense.

In terms of Foden’s individual performance, the 23-year-old had 37 touches of the ball and was able to accurately complete 21 of the 22 passes he attempted as well as having five shots at goal in total.

His overall performance ultimately earned the England international a stunning match rating of 9.6/10 from SofaScore.

Bearing in mind how Foden is a local lad and has worked his way through the youth ranks at his club to become a key figure in Guardiola’s side, it’s understandable why scoring a hat-trick against United in such a big win was such a happy moment for him.
