Chelsea confirm £20m star is back in full training ahead of Manchester United match

Chelsea have been handed an injury boost ahead of their game against Manchester United tomorrow.

Injuries have been a problem for Chelsea all season, with the likes of Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku and Reece James currently sidelined.

Lavia has only made one appearance this term and will now miss the rest of the campaign.

The above has undoubtedly contributed to the Blues’ poor season, with Mauricio Pochettino‘s men currently sitting 12th in the table.

He will at least have one of his midfielders back tomorrow for the visit of United.

Chelsea receive injury boost ahead of Manchester United clash

Pochettino is going to be without Nkunku and James for a bit longer.

However, the Argentine will be able to welcome back a few other players Thursday evening.

Chelsea’s official club website has confirmed that Carney Chukwuemeka is one man who is back in first-team training.

Chukwuemeka, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a £20m deal, has struggled to stay fit this season.

In total, the 20-year-old has made just nine appearances for the Blues.

Will Carney Chukwuemeka start against Manchester United?

Having just returned from injury, it seems unlikely that Pochettino will include Chukwuemeka in his first XI for tomorrow’s game.

Even if the former Villa player had not been out injured, he still probably would have had to settle for a spot on the bench.

Pochettino has favoured a midfield duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo this season, with Conor Gallagher playing slightly in front of the South American pair.

Whoever starts tomorrow, hopefully Chukwuemeka can just stay fit now. He has shown a lot of promise when he has played.

The England youth international’s finish against Leicester City just before the international break was such a professional one, while he scored a really good goal versus West Ham United at the start of the campaign. Chelsea fans will now be hoping to see more of that.
