Newark and Sherwood District Council to decide on plans for Kings Court flat

Plans to split a large retirement flat into two one-bedroom units are due to be considered by councillors.

The application, submitted by Newark and Sherwood District Council, for 39 Kings Court in Southwell will be decided by the district council’s own planning committee meeting tomorrow (April 4).

The proposal includes the creation of two one-bedroom flats with a shared stairwell above the existing community centre - where there is currently one large four bedroom flat.

It would also include the creation of three new car parking spaces - in addition to the four existing spaces. One of these would be to the southeast and would involve extending an existing parking bay and two of these would be to the north of the building.

The flats are each set to contain a double bedroom, open plan kitchen diner and living space, shower room and storage cupboard. One flat has an additional dressing room area attached to the bedroom and a second storage space.

Southwell Town Council is supportive of the application.

The application was recommended to be approved by the planning officers.
