Ivan Toney encouraged to make bold decision to make himself 'more tempting' to Arsenal

Arsenal striker target Ivan Toney has now been encouraged to undertake one bold course of action to further his career.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Toney for some time.

It is no secret that the Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker. Gabriel Jesus has struggled in front of goal this season and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in plenty of potential upgrades for the misfiring Brazilian marksman.

One player who has regularly been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium is Toney. The Brentford target man has hit the ground running since his return from a lengthy ban in recent weeks, and certainly has the capacity to shine at the very highest level.

How Ivan Toney could force Arsenal move

However, the Bees have put a £100 million price tag on Toney, which may well be enough to put Mikel Arteta off of pursuing a move for the 28-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window.

On the other hand, it is fair to say that Toney is keen to make a move. It has now been suggested that the twice-capped England international could take a drastic course of action in order to make himself a more attractive proposition to potential suitors.

Journalist Ben Jacobs, writing in his Daily Briefing, stated, “it will be interesting to see if Toney is sold this summer or waits for free agency in 2025. That might be more tempting for one or two Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.”

Should Ivan Toney run down his contract to attract Arsenal interest?

Certainly, if Toney were available as a free agent there would be a huge clamour for his services, and Arsenal would likely be in the mix to secure his signature. Any concern about his price, or even his age, would be allayed in these circumstances.

However, such a course of action carries with it significant risk for the player himself. Were he to suffer a loss of form or sustain a significant injury, then his prospects of moving to a top club on a free transfer would diminish. What’s more, by the time the summer transfer window of 2025 rolls around, Arsenal and many other top sides may well have already acquired another striker, leaving no room for Toney on their roster.

Of course, this action would not endear Toney to Brentford fans, either. There is a strong argument that he owes the Bees more loyalty than that, after they stuck by him throughout his ban and handed him the opportunity to prove himself at Premier League level in the first place.
