'Tiny': £45k-a-week Wolves star seemingly now sends subtle message to Fosun after Gary O'Neil comments

Last night after Wolves drew with Burnley in the Premier League, Gary O’Neil aired his frustrations about having a small squad – and Mario Lemina has also potentially now sent a subtle message to the owners.

Wanderers drew 1-1 at Turf Moor, coming from behind after Jacob Bruun Larsen put the Clarets ahead in stunning fashion.

Rayan Ait-Nouri equalised for Wolves just before half-time, and the game ended all squad which was probably a fair result.

Ait-Nouri had one golden chance in the second-half which he squandered, but Burnley also had several opportunities, meaning Jose Sa had to be at his best.

It was a depleted squad again for Wolves, with Leon Chiwome leading the line and the likes of Nathan Fraser, Ty Barnett, Tawanda Chirewa and Noha Lemina on the bench for the visitors.

O’Neil outlined the situation after the game, and now, Mario Lemina has also sent a message on social media…

It is a real struggle at the moment for Wolves.

Pedro Neto is potentially going to be out for the rest of the season, and Craig Dawson, Hwang Hee-chan and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde are all still out.

Matheus Cunha has also been out for a couple of months, but thankfully returned against Burnley last night.

Potentially, the rest of the season is going to be a real slog for Wanderers, which is a great shame because the team is still in touching distance of the European places.

O’Neil claimed last night that he had made the board aware of his concerns regarding the size of the squad and the potential to overload his players.

Wolves are now seriously starting to feel the pinch, and Lemina took to Instagram earlier today to give his take on the current situation.

Calling for the fans’ support, he wrote via his Story: “Thank you for the support. Focus on Saturday’s game. Tiny squad with the biggest characters in. Until the end. We will need your support until the end. Thanks @Wolves.”

A subtle message to Fosun

This does seem like a fairly subtle message to the club’s owners from Lemina.

The post was sent today by the player, suggesting that he has caught wind of what O’Neil about the current situation.

You can tell that there is some frustration there on his part. Because £45,000-a-week star Lemina has recently had to play out of position on the left wing a couple of times due to the shortage of available players.

It is a good thing to see a senior player applying gentle pressure on Fosun.

This Wolves squad could potentially achieve brilliant things, with a great manager currently at the helm. Granted, there have been some financial problems recently. But Fosun have simply got to provide the tools to help O’Neil.

Failure to do so will not allow Wolves to kick on from where they currently are.
