King Charles 'regrets how he raised Harry' - Wishes he was 'stricter to set boundaries'

King Charles may be filled with one big regret when it comes to his children Prince Harry and William, says a royal author.

The turbulent relationship between Prince Harry and his family is no secret. The Duke of Sussex has spoken out about his time in The Firm with his wife Meghan Markle several times over the past four years. But now, a royal expert has claimed the monarch may be facing one major regret when it comes to his children. Ingrid Seward, who wrote the book, My Mother and I, looking at King Charles‘ upbringing, says he may regret how he raised Harry and Prince William.

Seward, who has sat down with the 75-year-old himself at Highgrove Estate, says the father and son duo had a strong bond once. But that may have changed now for the pair.

“Prince Harry and King Charles were very, very close,” she told Fox News Digital.

“They got on incredibly well. I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn’t strict with Harry and [his older son] William.”

The editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine also believes Princess Diana‘s style of raising their children, Prince William and Harry, may have been without ‘boundaries’, affecting them now.

The author says Diana went with the times, but it’s something Charles regrets – even now.

“He went on with [Princess] Diana’s freestyle of bringing up children,” Seward added.

“Diana allowed them to do, more or less, what they wanted, which was very fashionable in those days. You let children just get on with things. I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn’t a bit stricter, because it might’ve given both boys a few more boundaries.”

“… Children all need boundaries, and I don’t think they had too many,” she continued.

Royal sources over the years have said the former Princess of Wales loved raising her children, but didn’t do so according to a palace schedule. Staff said she would have sporadic trips with her children, loved playtime, and was emotionally intelligent. Whereas other insiders believe, King Charles wanted to raise Prince Harry and William more traditionally – and that’s the regret.

Tensions within The Firm

Both Harry and Meghan Markle have shared insight into their time in the palace from their perspective. They told Oprah Winfrey they didn’t receive ‘support’ from The Firm when the Duchess was struggling with her mental health.

The duo also alleged there was a racist remark from a senior royal member, but refused to name who. The palace later denied they were racist and said they would deal with the issues raised in the bombshell interview ‘as a family’.

Prince Harry’s regret over how it all turned out is probably clear in his quick trips to the UK, for example, King Charles’ coronation in May. The dad-of-two did show support at the vent, but swiftly left as soon as the ceremony ended to fly back to his Montecito mansion, where his family were.

But Seward does believe the monarch is feeling torn over Harry’s behavior in recent years – comments he made in his book Spare and on television.

“That doesn’t stop Charles [from] loving him,” Seward said.

“But I think he’s very upset by Harry’s behavior and especially upset by Harry’s remarks about his wife, about Camilla… Charles just has to be there with open arms. Otherwise, it’s just going to make things much, much worse.

“And I’m sure he wishes that William and Harry were on better terms, but there’s nothing he can do about it. It’s between them.

“But he did say, ‘Please boys, don’t make my last years miserable,’ which is exactly what they have done.”
