'He was so upset': What Luis Suarez now wants to do for Inter Miami vs Monterrey tonight

Luis Suarez is reportedly eager to push Inter Miami to victory against Monterrey tonight after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against New York City FC.

The Uruguay international was on the scoresheet on the weekend as the Herons dropped more points without Lionel Messi in the squad, with the Inter Miami captain missing his fourth consecutive match.

Whilst Suarez’s form has been nothing short of exceptional, the striker is a player who prides himself in performing well whilst also getting a result that the team needs to progress.

And according to the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman, Suarez wants to impress tonight against Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

This evening’s fixture is arguably the biggest of the season so far for Inter Miami, and Suarez is seemingly keen to put on a show to get the Herons off to a winning start in their two-legged affair.

Kaufman said when asked how Suarez is feeling going into tonight’s Champions Cup tie: “He said he was so upset after this New York City game that nobody could talk to him for 48 hours.

“Although they tied, he felt he could have done more, and he wants to redeem himself against Monterrey. He wants to show what he can do and what to the team what he can do.”

As always, all eyes are on Messi’s fitness heading into this evening’s Inter Miami clash, with the Argentine expected to be named on the bench having been rested for almost a month.

Yet Suarez’s form could be just as important in the upcoming series against Monterrey, with the striker currently on a fantastic goalscoring run for Inter Miami.

Indeed, the Herons will want to do all they can to progress to the next round of the Champions Cup, and Suarez’s form will be as important as Messi’s over the two games.
