'He makes the wrong decisions': Alan Brazil says £55m Man City player is starting to 'disappoint' him now

Alan Brazil has claimed that Manchester City have a player who is starting to “disappoint” him.

It perhaps seems unfair to make such a claim about any of City’s regular starters, considering they have helped the side manage to compete on three fronts once again this season.

But at the same time, Pep Guardiola’s men still have plenty of work to do to retain their sky-high standards from their treble-winning campaign.

Or potentially even come close to such standards, as one can understand that replicating the standard of a treble-winning team is next to impossible for any team in the history of the game.

During the business end of the season, it would be ideal for the club if players like Bernardo Silva, for instance, start to perform as they did during the backend of last season.

Alan Brazil names the Manchester City player who is starting to “disappoint” him

Recently, even Erling Haaland has come under fire, with Ally McCoist referring to his overall game as “bang average.”

Such is the scrutiny that this Manchester City side and their players are under, despite continuing to be one of the teams to beat in Europe.

In their latest 0-0 draw against Arsenal as well, it would be fair to claim that certain City players were disappointing.

While expecting a battering like in the 4-1 win last season, it is also worth stating that how close the gap between both sides has become in the space of almost a year is perhaps far from ideal.

Now, Alan Brazil has claimed that the player who is beginning to let him down is Jeremy Doku.

“[Jeremy] Doku has suddenly appeared and came into the side. He’s taken his chance. Sometimes he makes the wrong decisions for me when he can go down the outside, he comes inside a lot. He is beginning to disappoint me”, he said on talkSPORT.

After Manchester City’s goalless draw against Arsenal, Don Hutchison described the £55 million man’s cameo off the bench as “disappointing.”

This assessment of Jeremy Doku is incorrect

In our view, how Alan Brazil has assessed Jeremy Doku is incorrect.

One reason why that is the case is because Brazil mentioned how the Belgian international also tends to cut inside.

However, Doku mixes up the direction in which he dribbles, as when he went past Tomiyasu against Arsenal, he went on the outside.

One of Jeremy Doku’s biggest strengths is how unpredictable of a dribbler he is, which makes him a potential superstar.

Against Trent Alexander-Arnold as well, the youngster darted part the Englishman on the outside on several occasions.

However, much like against Arsenal, the former Rennes speedster’s final ball left a lot to desire; an area of his game that admittedly needs to improve.
