'If he's there': Luis Suarez predicts if Inter Miami can win without Lionel Messi tonight

Luis Suarez has now predicted if Inter Miami can beat CF Monterrey tonight if Lionel Messi is still unavailable.

The Argentine superstar has missed the Herons’ last four games due to a muscular injury picked up in Inter Miami’s last CONCACAF Champions Cup tie against MLS rivals Nashville SC.

With tonight’s match against Mexican giants Monterrey earmarked by Tata Martino as the game Messi could return from injury, there are now worries that the 36-year-old could again be missing.

Yet speaking to the Miami Herald, Suarez has predicted that Inter Miami can get the job done against Monterrey even if Messi is absent, with the Champions Cup something the Florida franchise are keen to win.

Continental success this year will book Inter Miami’s ticket in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and Suarez has now given his verdict on if the Herons can handle Monterrey without Messi.

The Uruguay international said when asked how Inter Miami will cope if Messi is out for tonight: “Obviously, (Messi) makes a difference, we all know that.

“We’ll wait until tomorrow to see if he’s there or not, but if he’s not, we’ll do it like we did the other day and win the games without him. If he’s there, we’ll enjoy it more.”

Whilst Inter Miami’s form without Messi this year has somewhat picked up, there’s no denying that the Herons are a better team with the Argentine in the squad.

And if Messi again misses out on tonight, there’s a real chance that Inter Miami could kiss goodbye to their hopes of winning the Champions Cup, a competition Martino and the squad are set on winning.

Whilst there’s every chance that Messi plays tonight, Inter Miami will need to see the best from their captain if they’re to win the opening leg, with a miracle needed for the Herons.
