'Really proud': Manchester United wonderkid who Erik ten Hag invited to train at 16 signs new deal

Manchester United have acted decisively to tie up deals for two promising talents who signed with the club last summer.

A year ago, Manchester United raided rivals Manchester City to pluck talented midfielders Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher from their academy.

Considering that United’s ‘technical directorDarren Fletcher, had a prominent role at Old Trafford, it was always odd that his sons were at City, and their signing was a relatively straightforward one for the Red Devils to pull off.

Both players were 16 at the time. The twins turned 17 on March 19, and have become eligible to sign professional deals. Manchester United have wasted little time in actioning this.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher sign professional deals

Both Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher confirmed via their Instagram feeds that they have signed professional contracts, further committing their future to Manchester United.

Both players are midfielders, who have been part of the club’s successful under-18s team this season.

Jack Fletcher wrote on Instagram: “Really proud to have signed my first professional contract with Manchester United.”

Tyler Fletcher wrote: “Proud to sign my first professional contract with @manchesterunited. Thanks to my family and coaches who have helped me along the way.”

Both players were congratulated by their teammates, including left-back Harry Amass, who signed last summer from Watford, and has also himself recently penned a new deal.

Jack Fletcher has made biggest impression so far

Both players have featured for the academy teams, but similarly to the club’s previous set of twins, the Da Silva’s, one has made a stronger impression to date than the other.

Jack Fletcher has featured eight times, scoring once and providing two assists. He was subsequently called into first team training under Erik ten Hag, amid claims the manager wants to fast-track his develoment.

Heimpressed supporters with his skill in the FA Youth Cup, while his teammates compared him to Cole Palmer.

Tyler Fletcher has played in five academy matches this season. He is a Scotland youth international, while Jack has chosen, currently, to represent England, with both born in Manchester.
