‘Doesn’t even do that’: Richard Keys claims one Man City player does absolutely nothing on the pitch

Richard Keys has claimed that one Manchester City player offers nothing to the team in terms of his style of play.

Prior to their midweek Premier League match against Aston Villa, the Citizens drew 0-0 against fellow title-chasers Arsenal.

After this game, one pundit took to the internet to shares his thoughts on what he saw and decided to aim some significant criticism at one particular City player for the role he had in the game.

Writing in a recent blog post, Keys had this to say about Jack Grealish and his style of play after seeing his cameo appearance in City’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal.

He said: “Grealish offered nothing. His game consists now only of tippy-tappying inside or falling over. He never beats a man or gets a cross in. If he was as good as [David] Beckham he wouldn’t have to beat anyone – just cross it, but he doesn’t even do that.”

The winger made yet another return from injury in the second half of the Arsenal game, coming on as a substitute for Mateo Kovacic in the 61st minute.

During his time on the pitch, Grealish had 25 touches of the ball and made one key pass as well as successfully completing both dribbles he attempted.

He also won five of the six duels he was involved in, showing that he didn’t shirk away from his defensive duties when needed.

The winger’s overall performance earned him a match rating of 7.2/10 from SofaScore, which is higher than eight other City players that appeared in the game managed to get.

While Grealish was unable to help his side find what would have been a crucial potential winner against the Gunners, we feel that Keys’ criticism is unwarranted, over the top and unhelpful.
