Liverpool are a club who can boast millions of fans from all across the world, in all walks of life.
At times, we can perhaps forget just how wide the appeal of the the Reds goes. But as one of the biggest and most successful on the planet, it stands to reason that some famous faces will be swept along, too.

And after his quotes yesterday, we may now need to add another name to that list. As one of the most successful drivers in Formula One history, Sebastian Vettel is a huge name in the world of racing.
And as it turns out, Vettel might just be a Liverpool fan, too. If his comments on Jurgen Klopp are anything to go by, he’s certainly got a soft spot for the Reds, anyway.
What has Sebastian Vettel said
In the clip of Vettel’s interview with Sky Sports F1 released on X yesterday, we can’t see the full context of what the German is being asked.
However, it seems as though it was put to him whether he thinks Liverpool and Klopp can win the Premier League title this season. A natural question for a retired Formula One driver, of course.
“He’s in a great seat, because he’s currently top of the table, very tight,” says the 36-year-old. “I’m a big fan because he’s outspoken and I loved it when he came out and introduced himself as the normal one. I think that’s why he’s been taking off in the UK because he is what he is.
“He’s done some great work in Liverpool. To round it up it would be the perfect story if he were to succeed but deep down I don’t think it matters because ultimately he’s won and proven everything already.
“He felt he was ready to move on and I’m certain there’s lots of things he’ll miss but lots of things that he moves and looks forward to. Short term it might feel like that, that it’s so important, but long term I don’t think it will make a difference. I feel the club of Liverpool have embraced him already and he’ll be part of their story for years and years to come.”

Who is Sebastian Vettel
There will be no doubt be some reading these quotes and getting very excited indeed. The worlds of football and Formula One are quite closely linked. There’s a crossover in terms of support, for sure. Others will perhaps be scratching their heads or shrugging their shoulders. That’s fine too.
But it shouldn’t be ignored that this is one behemoth of his sport doffing his cap to another giant of his own. Legends collide.
Having retired in 2022, Vettel will maybe have an insight into what Klopp is currently going through. It can’t have been easy to call time on a career that included four World Drivers’ Championship titles, but that’s what he did.
As a German himself, there is of course a link between Vettel and Klopp. In the end that’s probably what’s driving his warm words, rather than a love for Liverpool FC. But we’ll take it anyway. One more famous fan added to the list!
