'Absolutely sensational': Danny Murphy thinks £25m Nottingham Forest star could play in the Champions League

Danny Murphy has been predicting what the future holds for Morgan Gibbs-White after his latest Nottingham Forest performance. The star was in action on Tuesday night as the Reds got back to winning ways by beating Fulham 3-1.

It’s been a frustrating few weeks for Forest really. Two draws against Luton and Crystal Palace should really have been victories; although they did end a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League.

It was vital that Gibbs-White helped Forest beat Fulham. It’s been a turbulent couple of weeks with Forest being deducted four points for breaching financial fair play regulations.

Gibbs-White is very much the main man at Forest. He scored and registered an assist as the Reds blew Fulham away at the City Ground and Murphy thinks he knows what might be in store for the player in the future.

Danny Murphy predicts what Morgan Gibbs-White will do in the future

Well, it would appear as though the pundit is a huge fan of Forest star Gibbs-White. In truth, if you like football you should like the Forest vice-captain given his quality.

Gibbs-White has already been linked with move to West Ham and Tottenham. Clubs will naturally circle for the Forest man whether the Reds stay in the Premier League or not this summer.

Now, Murphy has raved about Forest star Gibbs-White after his latest performance that left Fulham wounded. He believes he could go all the way to the top in the coming years as he progresses as a player.

He told TalkSPORT: “I want to mention Gibbs-White. I remember seeing him come on for Wolves for the first time a few years ago. He did this lovely little turn and played a through ball to someone who scored and I remember thinking ‘Who is this young kid’. I know he’s had a great England youth career.

“I think he’s capable of playing for a team in the Champions League club – a top six club. My biggest problem for Forest, if they stay up, I still don’t think they’re going to be able to keep hold of him. He was absolutely sensational last night.”

After Tuesday’s performance that player came in for some praise. Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo lauded Gibbs-White for his efforts.

Forest will face fight to keep hold of Gibbs-White

The best case scenario for all involved here is that Forest stay up and Gibbs-White plays an instrumental part. That way, the club will be able to command a hefty sum from any club that wants to sign him.

Given the financial situation at Forest – and being close to the threshold for the next three-year PSR cycle – it’s almost certain that the club will need to sell a top player. It might not be Gibbs-White though, with Murillo wanted by four Premier League clubs.

Forest must stand reasonably firm on Gibbs-White. Of course, every club in Forest’s position in the food chain will have a price on every player’s head but after getting roughly £50 million for Brennan Johnson, the club must be prepared to do the same again.

Gibbs-White has been some signing for Forest. He’s grown as a player since coming to the City Ground and if he does leave in the summer, the Reds will surely smash their record for a transfer fee received from another club.
