Report: 24-yo West Ham ace could join Serie A club this summer after Italian scouting mission

One West Ham United player in particular has been extensively scouted by a whole host of Serie A clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vital one for West Ham manager David Moyes, with numerous new signings required.

There will be plenty of outgoings at the end of the season, with 12 Hammers being linked with the London Stadium exit door.

Moyes absolutely must ensure that he strengthens his squad this summer. However, getting rid of the deadwood will be equally as important.

There are far too many players at West Ham right now who are picking up good wages and not sufficiently contributing.

One of those players in particular is now being heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium this summer…

West Ham ace could join Serie A club in the summer window

The Hammers have numerous players who have barely contributed to the team so far this season.

We have made a habit of keeping hold of underperforming players for far too long over the past few years.

That could all change this summer though with a few boys being linked with exits and some contracts set to expire.

According to Calciomercato, West Ham defender Ben Johnson was scouted extensively by Serie A clubs during our clash with Tottenham on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old has already been heavily linked with a London Stadium exit this summer, with his contract set to expire in just a couple of month’s time.

He has been awful for West Ham over the past 18 months or so. In spite of some impressive recent cameo appearances off the bench, Moyes is clearly still not convinced by Johnson.

His better performances recently have actually come in an auxiliary midfield role, but there obviously isn’t a place for him there in the long-term.

If his new contract demands are too high, then the club will 100% be making the correct decision to move him on.

If Johnson leaves West Ham in the summer window, it will be no great loss for us. However, it will be interesting to see how he gets on, if he does indeed move to a Serie A club.
