Report: English giants want to sign 'important' £50k-a-week Wolves star who's played every PL minute

Some Wolves fans might be getting a little tired of Manchester United, with reports now linking another individual with a move to Old Trafford.

It was recently reported that Joao Gomes had emerged as a potential transfer target for the Red Devils, who are looking to sign a long-term replacement for Casemio.

They see the Brazilian as a potential addition this summer, and a £40 million deal has been mooted.

It was then suggested that United fancied speaking to Gary O’Neil about a potential coaching role. But this was later dismissed.

Seemingly at United, there are plenty of admirers of Wolves and what the club have been doing this season.

Now, it is being claimed that the Red Devils have their eyes on someone else from Molineux…

Manchester United now showing transfer interest in Wolves captain Max Kilman

It has been claimed by The Times that United are now looking at Wolves captain Max Kilman.

United have made a new centre-back one of their main priorities this summer, and the 26-year-old has made it onto their shortlist.

The club have apparently sent scouts to watch Kilman ‘several’ times this season, and presumably, those scouts have also cast their eye over Gomes as well.

No contact has been made yet by United regarding £50,000-a-week star Kilman.

United know that Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane are not long-term options. Lisandro Martinez is injury-prone, and Harry Maguire has never really been in favour with Erik ten Hag.

So their need for one or two new centre-halves is clear, and Kilman may well be someone they seek to sign.

Wolves should hear offers

While it would probably be more preferable for Kilman to stay this summer, it cannot hurt to hear offers for the player.

Kilman is a great player, who is still a couple of years away from his peak.

He’s versatile in that he can play in a back three or a back four, and is a fantastic ball-player. But this is a player Wolves can make serious money on, having signed him for just £40,000 from Maidstone United (Telegraph).

The star did sign a new contract last October, so Wolves are in a very strong position.

United are clearly desperate for a new central defender and could fork out millions in their first summer under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

There is every chance Kilman would fancy that move as well if United became serious with their interest. Because the star hasn’t quite been able to make it into the England squad thus far in his career, he may feel playing for United would boost his chances, which was an idea floated by transfer expert Graeme Bailey recently.

But we will see what O’Neil’s stance will be. Back in February, he described Kilman as ‘an important member of the group’, and he has played every single Premier League minute so far this season. So he is clearly a hugely significant player in the eyes of the manager.
