The number of people who are known to have died after the earthquake in Taiwan rose to 10 on Thursday.

The authorities said that the body of a 65-year-old man had been found on a hiking trail in the Taroko National Park in the east of the country.

The popular tourist area in Hualien County took the brunt of the strongest quake in almost 25 years on Wednesday morning.

The authorities suspect that some people are still missing in the national park, and said on Thursday that 1,067 people were known to have been injured in the earthquake. Around 660 people were still thought to be trapped, many of them in a hiking hotel in the national park.
