RFK Jr. endorsed by infectious disease | Sheneman

I hear Rubella was on the vice presidential shortlist.

It’s been quite an evolution for Robert F Kennedy Jr. I’ve covered politics for a long time, long enough to remember when RFK Jr. was an environmental lawyer crusading for clean water as part of organizations like The Waterkeeper Alliance. Those days are long gone as the red-pilled scion of an American political dynasty chooses to spend his time promoting vaccine disinformation, whining about cancel culture and challenging passersby to shirtless push-up competitions.

The former Democrat is also running for president as an independent, and nobody seems to know who that will help or hurt. Except measles, a Kennedy campaign is unequivocally good for measles.

I can’t help but wonder what spurred RFK Jr’s Giuliani-esque heel turn this late in his career. What’s the path from the National Resources Defense Council to a card-carrying member of the grift-o-sphere pushing junk science vaccine studies and calling Joe Biden a bigger threat to democracy than the guy who lead an insurrection?

Who am I kidding, it’s probably the internet. I get it. Nobody thought to limit Robert’s screen time and he inevitably wandered down a rabbit hole and came out the other side thinking Anthony Fauci was part of the deep state. Who among us hasn’t clicked on an innocent-looking YouTube video and emerged from our stupor hours later believing Stonehenge was built by aliens. Could have been worse, he could have stumbled upon Andrew Tate.
