Sean Dyche starts £22m midfielder, 27-year-old player returns to start: Predicted Everton XI vs Burnley

Everton are back in Premier League action again this weekend, raring to play their third game in just seven days as they welcome Burnley to Goodison Park.

This marks the start of the Toffees’ rather favourable run-in on paper, as they host a number of their relegation rivals as they seek to pull away from the bottom three.

However, the trouble is that at home, they have hardly impressed.

With just three wins at Goodison Park all season, this is not the favourable spell that it might seem, and Sean Dyche will really have to drill his players to ensure they do not potentially throw away this golden opportunity to avoid the drop once again.

That must start this Saturday with a big win, and his team selection will be vital.

Everton predicted XI vs Burnley

For the first time in what felt like forever, the former Burnley boss actually rotated in their fine mid-week draw with Newcastle United.

And not only that, but after 60 minutes he also made wholesale changes, reacting to what was clearly not working on the pitch.

As such, we should expect another reversion again this Saturday, with five changes from the side that started at St James’ Park.

Jordan Pickford will remain in between the sticks, fresh from silencing his long-time rivals in their own backyard with a Player of the Match performance that even earned Shay Given’s praise.

He will sit behind a backline boasting just a sole alteration, with Seamus Coleman surely returning to replace Ben Godfrey.

At last, Dyche should have his perfect, well-balanced back four, with Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko making up the other three spots.

They will be shielded by a midfield pairing of Amadou Onana and James Garner, with the latter coming from the bench to impress on Tuesday.

Then, ahead of them, Andre Gomes may well have played himself into the starting side with his equally outstanding substitute showing. Perhaps it would allow Abdoulaye Doucoure some much-needed rest, whilst the £22m former Barcelona man offers a touch of added calm quality in the engine room.

Dwight McNeil is unlikely to be dropped, but Jack Harrison could be another recalled, with the 27-year-old an unused substitute against the Magpies.

They will both seek to supply the returning Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who came from the bench to end his goalscoring drought from the penalty spot and salvage a crucial point on the road.

That is a side that should have enough to topple Burnley. It’s imperative for their Premier League survival that they do.
