Good news for President Joe Biden? He’s more likable among Americans than former President Donald Trump. Biden’s bad news? His likability is down compared to 2020.

And Trump’s good news? He’s seen as a better leader than Biden.

That’s all according to the latest Gallup polling that shows Biden with a 20% advantage on likability — 57% to 37% — compared to Trump. It’s down for Biden by 9 points compared to 2020 and he’s down 6 percent points on trustworthy since then — though he still has an 11-point edge on honest/trustworthy edge, 46% to 35%, on Trump.

Trump, meanwhile, Trump has a big advantage on leadership: 57% to 38%. According to Gallup, Trump has gained a modest edge for managing the government — 49% to 39% — because of Biden’s lower 2024 rating on that issue.

“These changes are consistent with the 2020 to 2024 movement in the candidates’ overall favorable ratings. Biden’s most recent favorable rating, 41%, is down eight points from the end of the 2020 campaign, while Trump’s 42% is statistically similar to the 45% 2020 reading,” according to Gallup.
