'He's a top player': Joao Felix says he really wants Barcelona to sign £43m Man City star in the summer

Joao Felix has publicly admitted that he would love for Barcelona to sign one of Manchester City’s players in the summer.

It is very rare in football that a player comes out and expresses his desire for his team to make a specific signing, especially when the target in question plays for a club of City’s stature.

In January, Pedri did earmark Erling Haaland as the perfect long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski at the Spotify Camp Nou.

To be fair to the Barcelona players like Joao Felix and Pedri, it is no surprise that they would like their club to sign players from Manchester City.

Considering the Sky Blues play under Pep Guardiola, they have as much an understanding when it comes to their club’s signature playing style.

As a result, if any one of the majority of Manchester City players signed for Barcelona, they would likely be huge successes, as Ilkay Gundogan has been this season.

Joao Felix says he would love Barcelona to sign ‘top’ Manchester City player

While it seems impossible that a player like Phil Foden will leave City anytime soon, he would be an instant hit in Catalonia, with his technical ability and how he has been coached by Pep Guardiola.

Similarly, Barcelona are perhaps still in need of an heir to Gerard Pique’s throne and not many centre-backs in world football would be more suited to that responsibility than John Stones.

Ever since Guardiola’s arrival, City are tied to the Spanish giants due to how they follow the same principles as they have for years on the pitch.

However, unlike during the majority of the past decade, the Sky Blues are much more of an attractive destination for most top players than to sign for La Liga’s juggernauts.

Such is the progress City have made over the years while Blaugrana have regressed since their golden days.

Keeping that aside, a player Joao Felix seemingly thinks could get Barcelona back to the top is Bernardo Silva, as he hopes that he will leave Manchester City to sign for his club in the summer.

“I hope Barça will go and sign Bernardo Silva. He’s a top player and top guy”, he told Jijantes FC during an interview.

Felix continued, “He’s always asking me about Barcelona as his family is here.”

“I told Bernardo it’s all perfect and set for him to join us!”

Joao Felix is well aware of how sublime a player Bernardo Silva is due to playing him for the Portuguese national team and he would likely elevate Barcelona with his arrival.

Bernardo Silva should not listen to his Portuguese teammate

Perhaps one reason why Manchester City fans might be concerned with this admission from Joao Felix is due to how many times Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

In addition, the Portuguese international has a £50 million release clause in his contract, as per Fabrizio Romano, which gives Xavi’s side the chance to sign him at a bargain fee in the summer of 2024.

Whether the £43 million man does join Barcelona is a mystery but considering how they are unlikely to win La Liga or the Champions League this season, staying at City instead should be a no-brainer for him, in our view.

Even if Manchester City are third favourites when it comes to winning the Premier League, they seem like the biggest contenders to win Europe’s elite competition and the FA Cup and as a world-class player, Bernardo should prioritise winning at all costs.

At just 29 years old as well, to give that up to sign for Barcelona and join Joao Felix would be an absurd decision from the treble-winner.
