Wolves fans react to surprise transfer rumour about Max Kilman

Wolves defender Max Kilman has been linked with a move to Manchester United – and the report has prompted a rather mixed reaction from fans on social media.

It was claimed yesterday that United are keeping tabs on Kilman, as they seek to bolster their defence for next season. The Red Devils have a need for at least one new centre-back, with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane not long-term options.

Lisandro Martinez has struggled with injuries since joining the club, while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have both been questioned over their respective levels.

Kilman has therefore emerged as a potential target for United. But a deal will be very difficult for them to do.

Kilman, who is the captain at Molineux, signed a new contract back in October, keeping him at the club until 2028.

He is a very trusted member of the squad, with Gary O’Neil playing him in every single Premier League game so far. He has not missed a minute in the competition. Kilman has also made a further six appearances in the cups.

Wolves aren’t likely to entertain interest in Kilman this summer. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey said recently that the club are ‘very happy’ with him and that he’s not too likely to depart this summer.

However, Fosun want the club to become self-sustaining and so, an exit for the 26-year-old cannot be totally ruled out. A huge offer could very well see him depart.

But what do Wolves fans think about the possibility of Kilman leaving this summer?

For some, this is a non-starter.

Kilman is someone who has developed into a great Premier League centre-half, and is still a couple of years away from his peak.

He is the longest-serving player at the club, and there are people who feel that it would be foolish for the club to cash in…

Others say sell…

There are also quite a few people who would be open to seeing Max Kilman leaving the club this summer amid interest from Manchester United.

While he has had some top performances, he has also had some shaky ones. Particularly when Craig Dawson has not been in the backline with him.

Kilman probably hasn’t quite been at the same level he was in the 2021/22 season under Bruno Lage, when he played on the right of a back three, as he has been doing a lot again this term.

Some feel that, despite being captain and having more room to develop, the 26-year-old is replaceable and could make the club some good money…
