Manchester United fans did not hold back with their feelings on Casemiro after the former Real Madrid star’s performance against Chelsea on Thursday evening.
Casemiro has underwhelmed in the current Premier League campaign for Manchester United amid the Brazilian midfielder dealing with injuries.
The 32-year-old United midfielder earned high praise in his debut season at Old Trafford after the Red Devils signed him from Real Madrid in 2022.
Signed in a deal worth up to £70m, Casemiro became a pivotal midfield figure for Erik ten Hag’s men in the 2022-23 season alongside teammate Christian Eriksen.
However, the former Los Blancos star has seen his influence wane this season, despite United boss Erik ten Hag still relying on Casemiro in the midfield.
Casemiro only recently returned to first-team action after he suffered a hamstring injury, with the United man missing the 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool in March.
The Brazil captain made a brief cameo in the 1-1 away draw against Brentford last month before returning to the starting XI for the Chelsea match.
Casemiro struggles vs Chelsea
Casemiro partnered alongside Manchester United teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo in the heart of midfield for the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Brazil international struggled to exert his influence in the midfield and dropped an underwhelming display in the first half against Chelsea.
Conor Gallagher fired Chelsea into the lead in the opening five minutes before Cole Palmer beat United No 1 Andre Onana from the spot-kick in the 19th minute.
However, United went into half-time level after Alejandro Garnacho scored in the 34th minute before Bruno Fernandes added his side’s second five minutes later.
Despite the 2-2 scoreline in the first half, United fans were furious with Casemiro struggling to track back and his legs couldn’t keep up with the pace of the match.
Man Utd fans react to Casemiro’s performance vs Chelsea
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed that Casemiro is “washed” and dropped one of his “worst performances” this season.
“Casemiro [is] really struggling these days, man,” one fan said.
Another wrote: “Real Madrid did a madness selling Casemiro. They sold Man Utd a cookie container with a sewing kit inside.”
“[Raphael] Varane and Casemiro will be out the door in the summer,” someone else tweeted.
A fourth posted: “Casemiro is washed. Really is sad to see.”
While a fifth commented: “Casemiro needs to be sold and fast! Looks like his best days are behind him. Wonder why [Sofyan] Amrabat was signed if he’s never gonna play?”
Somebody else added: “Been a big Casemiro defender, but this is one of the worst performances of the season.”
And a seventh simply said: “I’m afraid we need to cash in on Casemiro ASAP.”
