Bishop’s Stortford’s St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School do the double at Kitteridge All Sports League football finals day

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School did the double at Kitteridge All Sports League finals day.

Teams from the Great Hadham Road school won both the Gold and Silver League titles in the competition for primaries in the Bishop’s Stortford area.

Manuden Community Centre was the venue for the event, which proved to be full of excitement and great sportsmanship.

The St Joseph's Gold League winners

St Joseph’s took on Manor Fields in the Silver final, with the teams having drawn their league encounter.

A splendid finish from Oliver gave St Joseph’s the lead and, despite a valiant effort from their opponents to get back into the contest, they sealed the victory with a second goal late on.

In the Gold showdown, St Joseph’s faced a Northgate team who had secured second place in the league thanks to some hard-fought wins.

The St Joseph's Silver League winners

It was Northgate who went ahead thanks to Brandon’s long-range strike, but St Joseph’s showed resilience to equalise.

Northgate goalkeeper Theo then produced some outstanding saves as the tie ended all square and a penalty shootout was required.

St Joseph’s emerged 3-2 winners on spot kicks, with their captain Olly exemplifying the spirit of sportsmanship by congratulating the Northgate players for their efforts as his colleagues celebrated.

KAS head coach Ross Kitteridge thanked Manuden Community Centre for providing the venue as well as Tim Mather and his daughter Olivia, from Manuden Junior Football Club, for providing refreshments.
