Bailey starts, £120k-a-week ace axed in 5 changes: Predicted Aston Villa XI v Brentford - opinion

Aston Villa host Brentford on Saturday looking to bounce back from their damaging defeat to Manchester City.

Unai Emery’s side caught Pep Guardiola’s men in red-hot form as Phil Foden fired City to an impressive 4-1 win.

Emery made changes at The Etihad, something similar could be in store for when Thomas Frank’s men travel to the West Midlands.

Here, Aston Villa Newslooks at how the Villans could line up with four changes in store.

Unai Emery to shuffle Aston Villa’s defensive unit against Brentford

After shipping four goals on Wednesday, changes in defence could be in the offing. Per the Birmingham Mail, Emery opted to rest Pau Torres against the champions, with Clement Lenglet coming into the starting XI.

Considering his eagerness to rotate, Torres returning to the starting XI instead of Diego Carlos could be on the agenda. Elsewhere,Emi Martinez will return in place of Robin Olsen, who deputised well on Wednesday.

The final change at the back could see Lucas Digne make way for Alex Moreno. Digne, who is on £120,000-a-week at Villa Park, endured a torrid night against Jeremy Doku and could be rested for what appears to be a more favourable home clash.

Ezri Konsa should continue at right back with Matty Cash still out of action.

Aston Villa mainstay to return in midfield

Another boost could see John McGinn return to Villa’s plans. The 29-year-old has been suspended for the Villans’ past three games.

Tim Iroegbunam was gifted a surprise start against Manchester City but will likely return to the bench upon the captain’s return.

Douglas Luiz will almost certainly start alongside the Scot.

Leon Bailey to return to Aston Villa starting XI

The final change should see Leon Bailey return instead of Nicolo Zaniolo, who failed to impress on Wednesday. After his rest, the Jamaican will be raring to make an impact against the Bees.

Jhon Duran could retain his spot with doubt over Ollie Watkins’ fitness. Moussa Diaby and Morgan Rogers could also start after providing Villa with an attacking edge on Wednesday.
