Danny Higginbotham has heaped praise on one Manchester City player after their recent 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
The Blues took a step towards potentially winning another Premier League title in midweek with their win over Unai Emery’s side at the Etihad Stadium.
After the game, one player, who delivered an eye-catching performance for the home side, found himself on the end of some heavy praise from one pundit.
Higginbotham astounded by ‘amazing’ City star after Villa win
Speaking in a video shared on the NBC Sports TikTok channel, Higginbotham said this about Phil Foden after his performance in the Villa match.
He said: “He’s an absolute genius. He’s one of those players you would pay whatever money it takes to watch him. He’s what we call a street footballer, he just plays with such freedom.
“I think the interesting thing for Guardiola going forward is that he’s better in the middle but there’s only so many you can play in the middle, you’ve got [Kevin] De Bruyne, you’ve got [Bernardo] Silva, you’ve got Foden, so I found that fascinating.
“He, for me, just completely stole the show, I think he’s amazing.”
The 23-year-old scored his second hat-trick of the season against the Villans on Wednesday night after Rodri had opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side.
He also made three key passes in the game, further highlighting how much of an attacking threat he was on the night, ultimately earning himself a perfect match rating of 10/10 from SofaScore.
Given how impressive the midfielder was against Villa, it’s easy to see why Higginbotham has said he’s a player that is so entertaining to watch.
Moving forward, if Foden can keep providing those sort of performances and keep delivering goal contributions, he’ll definitely find himself on the end of even more praise, especially if he can help his side add more trophies to their cabinet at the end of the season.
