Kieran Tierney sends class Celtic message ahead of big derby against Rangers

Former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has every faith in the Bhoys to get the job done against Rangers on Sunday in a massive Scottish Premiership derby.

The Bhoys know defeat is not an option at this stage of the season and are up against it versus a Philippe Clement side who have had increasing confidence as the campaign rolls on.

Tierney has been there and done it at Celtic, with many of the same personalities who will be leading the team out onto the pitch at a hostile Ibrox this weekend.

The Arsenal star, on loan at Real Sociedad, remains a massive supporter of the reigning champions and is backing them to once again travel across the city and pick up a win.

He reckons that the Bhoys have an elite coaching staff in place that can inspire their players to get the result needed.

Kieran Tierney on Celtic vs Rangers

He said [Scottish Sun]: “I really hope for a Celtic win, but I know how difficult it is going to Ibrox. It will be even tougher without any fans. But they have done it before — and I’ve got every faith in them.

“Brendan’s a great manager who has a fantastic derby record. He knows what it takes to win at Ibrox. I know how important John Kennedy is. He is an amazing coach. I’ve seen it first-hand.

“He helped me massively — and I know there are numerous other players at Celtic who will say the same. I don’t think the team could have two better people in charge. They will keep the players calm and focused.”

Even a draw would be a good result for Celtic on Sunday. Anything that keeps the destination of the silverware in Bhoys’ hands.

A defeat would leave Rodgers’ side requiring favours from others in the final run of games and we know Rangers are capable of consistently beating the rest of the teams in the table.

It’s been a long season of ups and downs for Celtic but it’s time for heroes to step up and show why they’re champions.
