They caught City in red-hot form. It’s time to shelve the Etihad humbling and add to their already impressive home record.

The Bees head to the West Midlands without a win since February 10. Currently, the West London club are just six points above Luton Town, who are just on the wrong side of the dotted line.

Saturday’s Villa Park clash is an excellent chance for Villa to heap pressure on Tottenham. It’s an opportunity that cannot be passed up.

Luckily for Emery, a good luck charm appears to be taking charge of proceedings.

Who is taking charge of Aston Villa v Brentford on Saturday afternoon?

Michael Salisbury is in charge of this weekend’s fixture, which is excellent news for Villa fans. Salisbury has taken charge of four of Villa’s Premier League matches, and it’s fair to say the West Midlanders have benefitted.

Emery’s men have won four and drawn one of Salisbury’s four matches in charge, meaning Villa have a 75% win rate under his stewardship.

Of course, it’s likely a coincidence, but there is comfort in knowing Salisbury will be at the helm on Saturday; it’s clear the home side benefit.

What is Aston Villa’s injury situation ahead of Brentford?

Emery has had to deal with his fair share of injury concerns during the 2023/24 season, and Emi Martinez was the latest worry for the Spaniard.

The Argentine missed Wednesday’s loss with Robin Olsen coming in to deputise. However, according to The Shropshire Star, the Villa boss is confident he will return tomorrow.

Ollie Watkins and Jacob Ramsey are also concerns heading into the weekend after both players missed out against City. Jhon Duran filled in nicely and could be gifted another start.Matty Cash is also out after pulling up on international duty.

One positive is the return of John McGinn. The Scot has been suspended for Villa’s last three matches and will give Emery a huge boost heading into the latter stages of the season.
