'Really good': Jurgen Klopp has great injury update for Liverpool fans after Sheffield United game

It had looked like it might not be for a short spell, but last night was a good one for Liverpool.

The Reds needed to dig a little deeper than they might have expected to against Sheffield United, but they got the three points they came for.

As a result of Alexis Mac Allister’s wonderful long-range bullet, Liverpool are sitting back on top of the Premier League table.

Mac Allister’s goal wasn’t the only positive of the night, as Jurgen Klopp proved how he can use his bench to the best effect.

And also, after the game, the Liverpool manager claimed that the Reds had received some ‘really good’ news on the injury front, too.

What’s the latest injury update for Liverpool

Although they saw the return of Curtis Jones for a cameo last night, Liverpool are still missing a couple of key players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker are now the most notable three yet to make comebacks of their own. Hopefully they won’t be far off now.

In the meantime, Klopp spoke to TNT Sports after the game to confirm that the Reds had no fresh injuries on the back of last night’s game.

“I don’t think anybody got hurt tonight,” said the Liverpool manager.

“We have got all the players back, Robbo back, Curtis back, Cody if you want back, that’s really helpful for us. And nobody got injured so really good day for us.”

What about Wataru Endo

As well as the three big names missing, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool were also without Wataru Endo against Sheffield United. The 31-year-old picked up a knock against Brighton on Sunday and as a result sat this one out.

However, in quotes from Liverpoolfc.com after last night’s game, Klopp also confirmed that Endo will be back in contention to play against Manchester United.

“That’s my information [that he will be fit],” said the 56-year-old. “We rested him today. We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight but if we leave him out then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn’t change.”

Slowly but surely, Liverpool are getting back to full strength. With that title run-in now in full effect, that would be absolutely enormous.
