Tottenham keen to battle for ‘absolutely incredible’ 22-year-old who Jurgen Klopp said haunts his dreams

Tottenham Hotspur have now earmarked a 22-year-old forward as a potential target for the summer transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men have a huge final eight games ahead of them in the Premier League as they look to qualify for the Champions League.

Tottenham go into the weekend sitting two points behind Aston Villa with a game in hand on Unai Emery’s side.

And going into the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Nottingham Forest, Spurs will hold two games in hand over Villa as they play on Saturday.

A lot has changed at Hotspur Way over the last year and it looks like Daniel Levy will be sanctioning more transfers over the coming months.

The Spurs News already understand that Tottenham will be looking to bring in a forward – potentially two – over the summer window.

One name which has been mentioned as a potential target for the summer is 24-year-old Jota who played under Postecoglou at Celtic.

Spurs have already brought in Timo Werner on a short-term loan deal and they have until 14 June to make his stay permanent for a fee of £15m.

However, another name has now entered the frame with Spurs looking to add some real quality to their side ahead of a season in Europe.

Tottenham keen on player who has tore his league up this season

The forward positions is an ares which Tottenham invested a considerable amount of money in over the summer with the signing of Brennan Johnson.

Spurs parted with £47.5m for the Welshman who has recently been seriously impressing under Postecoglou.

Johnson has returned a stunning nine goal contributions in his last 13 appearances and has now done something which no other Premier League player has managed this season.

But it seems, with European football on the horizon, Tottenham will not be settling for the options they have currently at the club.

With players like Bryan Gil now expected to make way in the summer, according to HITC Football, Spurs are believed to be eyeing up Leeds United youngster Crysencio Summerville.

They are not alone with a number of Premier League clubs and others from across Europe also keen.

The “absolutely incredible” 22-year-old has set the Championship alight this season having returned a seriously impressive 17 goals and eight assists.

Daniel Farke’s side are looking to earn automatic promotion this season after being relegated last term.

Although this may prove more difficult for Spurs to then make a move for the Dutchman, it has to be remembered Spurs have something Leeds want.

Joe Rodon has spent the season out on loan with Leeds and, after a solid campaign, it is believed they want to sign him permanently.

Jurgen Klopp said Summerville causes him nightmares

Back in 2022, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds were able to break Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s impressive Anfield advantage with a late winner from Summerville.

Speaking to the media in the wake of the defeat against Leeds, Klopp admitted the Dutchman’s goal was haunting his dreams on a night. “I still woke up at night over that second goal,” he said.

“I’m 55 I go a couple of times per night on the toilet, that’s why I wake up usually but this time the goal was in my mind.”
