Big problem for Aston Villa as Moyes reportedly makes it his mission to sign 'incredible' 28-yo

West Ham United reportedly could be set to deal Aston Villa a very big summer transfer window blow.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham manager David Moyes.

With up to 12 players being linked with the London Stadium exit door, Moyes faces another squad rebuild, if he remains in charge of course!

Pretty much every department of the Scot’s squad needs looking at this summer, with numerous different additions required.

One area in particular need of strengthening is the central defensive department. The Hammers boss has overseen a really poor campaign from a defensive perspective.

We’ve conceded a shocking 55 goals in the Premier League this term – only the bottom three teams have let in more.

Now it seems like Moyes is determined to change all of that, to the detriment of Villa…

Moyes eyes up incredible centre-back summer transfer window signing

The Hammers manager absolutely has to sign a top-class central defender this summer, with concerns about Kurt Zouma’s knees growing by the week.

And it seems that’s exactly what Moyes is planning to do.

According to a report from Tutto Juve, Moyes is determined to be Villa boss Unai Emery to the signing of Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso this summer.

Described by well renowned Spanish website Football Espana as an ‘incredible’ player, Hermoso would certainly add a lot to Moyes’s defensive options at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old is obviously well-versed in playing in an extremely organised and well-drilled back-line under Diego Simeone at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium.

In 23 La Liga appearances for Atleti this season, Hermoso has averaged 1.7 tackles, one interception, 2.7 clearances and 1.9 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft tall, the Spain international isn’t the tallest of central defenders, but he more than makes up for that with an impressive spring and leap.

He can play at left-back as well, and the fact that he is left-footed makes him the ideal upgrade on Nayef Aguerd and the perfect long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna.

Hermoso is fairly quick along the ground and he reads the game exceptionally well. If West Ham manage to beat Aston Villa to his signature in the summer transfer window, it will be great news for us and a body blow for Unai Emery at the same time.
