Russian forces bombed and completely destroyed the office of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) in the Donetsk region. Local residents were injured due to the Russian attack, according to a Facebook post from the organization.
"Today, April 5, around 3:00 a.m., the office of Doctors Without Borders in Pokrovsk, located in the Donetsk region, was bombed and completely destroyed. Our colleagues did not suffer any injuries," the organization reported.
Due to the Russian attack, five local residents who were near the office were injured.
"We condemn the attack on the office, which provided emergency medical humanitarian assistance to people in Donetsk region. Doctors Without Borders call for the protection of their facilities, as well as civilians, humanitarian workers, and healthcare personnel," the organization added.
Vincenzo Porpiglia, the Emergency Coordinator for Doctors Without Borders in Ukraine, emphasized that the attack on the organization's office is not an isolated incident.
"The destruction of civilian infrastructure has been a characteristic feature of this war for a long time," emphasized Porpiglia.
Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders is an international independent medical humanitarian organization that provides assistance to victims of armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and people who lack access to medical care.
Currently, it operates in over 70 countries worldwide. In 1999, it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In December 2021, it celebrated its 50th anniversary. It has been operating in Ukraine since 1999.
Shelling of Pokrovsk
Today Russian occupiers attacked Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, shelling the residential sector.
Five people were wounded, including a 14-year-old boy.
