'Love to see him there': Liverpool told 'excellent' manager could now be their ideal replacement for Klopp

You get the feeling Liverpool are about to hit top gear in the race to land their next manager.

The Reds have so far been careful and considered in their approach to who should follow Jurgen Klopp. However, with the season starting to run out of road, now is the time to act.

Ever since Xabi Alonso took himself out of the running last week, the same handful of names have been circulating. Wildcard possibilities have also been mentioned, with Wolves boss Gary O’Neil one of the more left-field shouts.

Even captain Virgil van Dijk has weighed in. The Reds skipper outlined the qualities needed to make an ideal Liverpool manager earlier today.

And now, the decision makers at Anfield have been told of a coach who potentially ticks all of those boxes.

Liverpool told of ideal Jurgen Klopp replacement

The necessities that Van Dijk described for an ideal manager of Liverpool are just about everything that Klopp has brought.

Not only do you need to be a top coach, but you also have to truly understand what it means to manage Liverpool Football Club. The Reds’ history is full of inspirational and iconic managers. It’s a huge thing to take over at Anfield.

And according to former Portugal international Diamantino Miranda, Sporting boss Ruben Amorim has the right mentality to take that on.

“There’s Benfica’s school,” Miranda told Bancada. “There was the Benfica school, which is a club very similar to Liverpool. Therefore, he becomes someone who will not be too surprised by the winning mentality and representing mythical clubs.

“I would be very happy for Ruben Amorim, who is an excellent person. What he has shown in Portuguese football, he deserves to be given this opportunity. If there is [a chance], no one will take it wrong to seize such a big opportunity to coach Liverpool.

“I’d love to see him there.”

What is Ruben Amorim’s background

For those confused, Miranda is referring to the fact that Amorim – who currently manages Sporting – represented Benfica during his playing days.

The 39-year-old actually spent a couple of years in the youth academy, so was quite literally schooled by the Eagles.

After moving away to Belenenses, Amorim then re-joined Benfica, going on to spend six years in the first-team. Having been at the Estadio da Luz throughout his prime, the Sporting man is well used to winning.

As a result, perhaps Miranda is right to suggest that Amorim has had the ideal learning process to take him up to this point. With respect to Benfica and Sporting, joining Liverpool is a few rungs up on the ladder, though. But having spent so long at the top of the game in his homeland, maybe he’s now ready to branch out.
