Kansas City Chiefs star Rashee Rice is facing potentially serious charges following his car accident on Saturday that impacted six vehicles and minorly injured four individuals in Dallas. On top of reckless driving and fleeing the scene, the young Chiefs receiver could also face prosecution for drug possession. The Lamborghini he was driving that crashed alongside a Corvette had marijuana inside that was left at the scene when the six occupants inside the two speeding cars fled.

According to WFAA in Dallas, the police report for the incident says marijuana was found in both cars, as well as credit cards, a check for $16,500, a diamond chain, and the playbook for the Kansas City Chiefs. The report also states that the six occupants of the two luxury vehicles did not exchange information with the other drivers of the other four cars that were in the chain collision and they didn’t check to see if other individuals were injured. Though it doesn’t specify what speeds the vehicles were traveling, the report states they were “speeding” on Highway 75, going northbound.

Rice spoke to Dallas Police and released a statement on Wednesday before his lawyer held a press conference on Thursday. His lawyer told reporters that they are expecting charges from the Dallas County DA but didn’t specify what the charges might be. The former SMU standout was reportedly leasing the Corvette and renting the Lamborghini.

Lawyer for Rashee Rice says Chiefs WR will make good with crash victims

Attorney Tennessee Walker, representing a husband and wife who were in the collision, said his clients suffered concussions and the wife has extensive eye injuries that required stitches.

“While I am glad he met with Dallas Police, it is well past time for everyone responsible to be direct and forthright with the victims and the public, but that is not happening,” Walker told WFAA. “I hope that changes soon.”

Royce West, a lawyer for Rice, revealed on Thursday at a press conference that his client was one of the drivers of two cars that were involved in a multi-car crash in Dallas on Saturday. Photos from the scene confirmed Rice’s involvement, however, it was unclear at the time of the accident who the drivers were. West spoke to reporters and noted that Rice intends to fully accept responsibility for the accident and ensure that those involved receive restitution.

“Mr. Rice wants to make certain that it’s understood and appreciated that he’s going to do everything in his power to make sure their life returns to as normal as possible in terms of injuries and in terms of property damages,” West said, via Calvin Watkins. “He’ll make certain that he’s responsible and that he helps them get through that particular part of this.

“Don’t get us wrong, we understand that no one can bring back or help them get over the memories of being in that accident.”
