Western military instructors could go to Ukraine if air defense improves — Lithuanian PM

She noted that Lithuanian military instructors are already training Ukrainian soldiers in Lithuania and other countries.

“Can they be trained in Ukraine? With proper air defense, certainly, these risks can be managed," Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT quotes Simonyte.

The PM added that foreign experts who could assist Kyiv in cybersecurity, demining, and border protection might be dispatched to Ukraine in the future.

According to Simonyte, some have interpreted remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron about the potential deployment of troops to Ukraine as an offer for Western forces to partake in combat operations against Russia.

"There are various forms of assistance or ways to participate," she said.

The PM explained that when Macron suggested dispatching troops to Ukraine, he implied that Western countries should not set red lines for themselves when the other side is led by "a person [Russian dictator Vladimir Putin] with no red lines and who wields a nuclear threat brandishing it every other day."
