'Scandalous': Graeme Souness says Everton have given a 'masterclass' in one thing

Graeme Souness has suggested Everton have given a “masterclass” in one thing in recent years.

Evertonians have endured a dire couple of seasons, and, at present, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

The Premier League continue to make a mockery of the club regarding their second PSR charge, which is set to be revealed on Monday.

Furthermore, 777 Partners are still awaiting approval before their proposed takeover. The delay has even led to other parties showing reported interest.

What has Graeme Souness said about Everton’s situation?

Liverpool legend Souness has since shared his view on the club and has criticized Farhad Moshiri’s ownership.

The 70-year-old has even suggested Everton’s recruitment is a “masterclass” in how not to do things.

He told The Daily Mail: “This club have given a masterclass in how not to recruit players. And why is that? Because of the scandalous way, they have been run into the ground by those at the top of the club.”

He added: “This club’s crisis comes down to total – and I mean total – mismanagement by those further up the food chain. By that, of course, I mean owner Farhad Moshiri, listening to the wrong so-called ‘football advisers/agents’ telling him which footballers are worthy of playing for Everton.

“I cannot reinforce strongly enough the folly of taking such poor advice. It has brought years of purgatory to one of our most distinguished clubs.”

What’s the latest on 777 Partners’ proposed takeover of Everton?

One issue that clearly needs to be resolved is 777 Partners’ proposed takeover. The time taken to vet the Miami-based firm has – rightfully – seen questions raised.

On March 23, the “endgame” appeared to be in sight, with the Premier League “minded” to grant approval. However, since then, the trail has gone cold.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has even suggested that “no progress” has been made by Josh Wander and his associates.

A new dynamic has also emerged after The Times reported that a cash-rich group are now lurking in the shadows. Evertonians want a resolution at his point with the club’s best interests at heart. Whether that will occur is up in the air.
