What Ange Postecoglou said about Brennan Johnson ahead of Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou has shared some comments about Brennan Johnson as the Wales international prepares to face Nottingham Forest with Tottenham on Sunday.

It will be just the second time Nottingham Forest’s academy graduate faces his old side since sealing a £47.5m move to Spurs back in September.

The Nottingham-born forward was involved in a 2-0 win for Tottenham against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground back in December, and as Brennan Johnson welcomes Nuno Espirito Santo to north London, Postecoglou has commented on the 22-year-old’s start to life in N17…

What Ange Postecoglou said about Brennan Johnson

Well, the Tottenham No.22 is obviously no longer Nottingham Forest’s player to enjoy, although given his rise through the academy and strong roots in Nottingham, some might like to know what Postecoglou thinks of his £47.5m investment.

As quoted by the Independent, the Australian said: “I like the way he’s handled it (stepping up after Harry Kane left).

“We like the way he’s progressing but we certainly believe there is more to come, for sure. I think now he’s found a bit of confidence, consistency and understanding of how we play, he’s getting the rewards, which is great… if we invest the time in him even more, he’s going to be a super player for us.”

Johnson has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 27 Premier League appearances so far this season, which is a solid return – he actually has more goal involvements than James Maddison.

It was a shame that Johnson couldn’t fulfil his vast potential in red rather than white, although keeping a player of his quality was always going to be tough as England’s biggest clubs circled.

Nottingham Forest must be wary

Ola Aina is in for a tough game on Sunday evening, as Johnson- who Neco Williams recently messaged – is actually one of the Premier League’s form players right now.

In his last five Premier League appearances, the right-winger has scored two goals while also providing three assists, helping Tottenham record three wins and a draw from those games.

Therefore, Aina will have to be alert, and also work with Callum Hudson-Odoi down the left to ensure Johnson doesn’t get a sniff.
