Voting in decisive second round of the presidential election in Slovakia came to an end shortly after 10 pm (2000 GMT) on Saturday.
Some 4.4 million voters were called upon to choose the future head of state in a run-off election between the liberal former foreign minister Ivan Korčok and the social democratic parliamentary speaker Peter Pellegrini.
The liberal incumbent Zuzana Čaputová did not apply for a second five-year term of office despite her continued popularity.
In the first round on March 23, Korcok, who was supported by the liberal and conservative opposition parties, surprisingly won with a 5.5% lead over Pellegrini, who was supported by part of the left-wing nationalist three-party coalition led by left-wing populist Robert Fico.
Polls suggested a neck-and-neck race in the run-off.
A post-election poll was not planned, but partial results were to be published continuously throughout the night. The final result is expected early on Sunday morning.
