With the end of the season around the corner, fans now have their eyes on the 2024/25 campaign.

One of the biggest decisions the owners will need to make is the new manager. Mike Dodds has been the interim boss since Michael Beale’s sacking, with someone new expected for the summer.

One man who has put his name forward for the job is Jermaine Defoe who had a great spell at the Black Cats in the 2010s. However, fans are far from keen on the idea with many being against a summer appointment.

Sunderland once again failed to win at the Stadium of Light. The club haven’t tasted victory at their home ground since the 3-1 victory over Plymouth.

In his current spell, Dodds is also yet to oversee a home win, with the club seeing out a 0-0 draw to Bristol City on Saturday.

As a result, two of Dodds’ decisions have been questioned regarding the team selection. There were multiple absentees from the squad, including Tom Watson, despite calls to give him more first-team experience.

Several players underperformed against the Robins. The hosts had multiple golden chances to go ahead with Jack Clarke, Bradley Dack and Adil Aouchiche all fumbling.

The latter was arguably the least impressive of the three with the Sunderland Echo rating him a 5/10.

Aouchiche managed to lose possession of the ball 19 times and came away with just a 59% passing success rate.
