'Not his best': Daniel Farke says he wasn't happy with 28-year-old Leeds player's energy against Coventry

Daniel Farke has suggested that one Leeds United player lacked the energy he wanted to see as the Whites were beaten by Coventry City on Saturday.

It is so important to remember the run Leeds had been on for the majority of 2024 when reflecting on the 2-1 loss to the Sky Blues. But keeping that in mind is a lot easier said than done.

Norwich’s win over Ipswich Town earlier in the day handed Leeds the chance to put the automatic-promotion race back in our own hands.

But it was only in the final minutes when Leeds managed to get out of second gear. By that stage, the damage was already done. A draw, ultimately, would have flattered the Whites.

Daniel Farke admits Leeds player did not have his best day against Coventry

A number of players were extremely disappointing. And one of those who really struggled against Mark Robins’ side was Glen Kamara.

Daniel Farke spoke of Kamara being ill ahead of the win over Hull in midweek. Nevertheless, he kept his starting spot against Coventry, with Ilia Gruev returning to the side.

Farke made the unusual decision to take Kamara off at half-time on Saturday. And, as reported by Phil Hay on X, the Leeds boss explained after that the Finland international appeared to be still be struggling…

Too many have gone off the boil at the same time

During our winning run in the opening months of the year, it felt like every single player had found another level.

Obviously, we should have known that the run could not last forever. But it is alarming how many players have looked ordinary in the last few games.

Leeds just about got away from Watford with a point. And they had warnings against Hull. Unfortunately, they were unable to go to the well one more time this weekend.

The good news is that the next game comes around shortly. Leeds host Sunderland on Tuesday. But we desperately need the likes of Kamara to be back at it.

Desperately.
