'Not just the decision': Wolves coach Neil Cutler slams something else about Max Kilman's disallowed goal

Wolves were stung by VAR again yesterday in the Premier League – and goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler has shared something else that was very frustrating about the decision.

Wolves lost 2-1 to West Ham United at Molineux, and there was a very controversial moment at the end.

Max Kilman scored a header from a corner, and at first, it seemed like everything was fine, and there were scenes of jubilation.

But it was then announced that the goal was being assessed for a potential offside.

Tawanda Chirewa, on as a substitute for Wolves, was positioned in front of West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, and was ultimately deemed to be interfering with play.

Kilman’s header found the corner of the net, with Fabianski having zero chance of saving it even if no one was stood near him.

After the game, Cutler expressed his dismay over social media, and pointed to something that has become more and more frustrating about a lot of Premier League referees…

Wolves fans would love to be able to dream of European football.

But realistically, it just can’t happen because of things like this.

Not only has this latest decision cost Wolves a point, but it has also handed West Ham – a rival in the table – two points.

Wolves have been done over multiple times this season and have missed out on points that would easily have them in those European spots at this moment.

After yesterday’s game, Wolves’ goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler could not contain his rage and took to social media, calling out the arrogance of the officials, as well as the decision itself. He wrote on X: “Another horrific decision!! Not just the decision but the arrogance after it is shocking!!”

After the final whistle, Wolves players went over to Harrington and his two linesmen to question the decision to rule out Kilman’s equaliser.

Gary O’Neil – who branded the decision ‘terrible’ – also went over to talk to the referee.

Harrington was seen dishing out several yellow cards, and after the game, O’Neil said that he did not see him inside as he was not calm enough.

It’s so boring

Wolves fans are sick to the back teeth of referees costing the team points this season.

You would perhaps expect one or two major calls to go against your side in any one campaign. But Wolves have been absolutely done this term and should probably have about 10 more points on the board.

Kilman’s goal being ruled out yesterday is extremely concerning for football. How they have deemed Chirewa to be interfering with play is just unfathomable. Fabianski would have got nowhere near the ball even if he had been completely alone.

Wolves need to obviously look at themselves for that second-half performance, no one is denying that.

But it is very, very boring to once again be talking about a VAR decision that has cost the team a potentially crucial point. Something has to be done.
