"It's been brilliant"... £19m Man Utd star hails Erik ten Hag despite playing just 97 minutes this season

Amad Diallo may have had a reason to be upset after the clash against Chelsea.

The £19m man did not obtain a single minute in the 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League in midweek, despite his heroics against Liverpool in his last cameo for the Red Devils.

Sadly, since his return from injury, this has been the same old story for Amad all season. He has featured for just 97 minutes across all competitions, without a single start to his name.

Despite this – Amad appears to have enjoyed his campaign at Old Trafford, and alongside this has a good relationship with the Manchester United manager who has shunned him of game time.

Amad Diallo on Erik ten Hag

Diallo reflected on his Manchester United career and the season he’s having so far in a recent interview with club mediawhere he also revealed the position he’d ideally like to play for Manchester United.

The Ivorian was asked about the impact Erik ten Hag has had on him at United, to which he responded:

“It’s been brilliant for me,” Amad begins. “He’s been helping me a lot. I’m learning a lot.

“I remember when I was injured, he called me into a meeting and we spoke. He said ‘Don’t worry Amad, you are strong, I hope you come back and you fight for the team’.”

Amad was then asked what Ten Hag said to him after the infamous last-gasp strike against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

“He was so happy for me,” he continued. “He said I deserved that goal. He was happy. I was happy. Everyone was happy.”

Not a single ounce of bad blood between the two it seems – which is great to see.

More game time to come for Amad Diallo?

Surely. Amad has still not had the time to prove himself at Manchester United and thoroughly deserves at least a shot at it.

His cameo against Liverpool was one of the hardest-working performances we’d seen all season, and we’d love to see what he could do from the off.

Maybe a few minutes in the tank as United take on Liverpool in the Premier League this Sunday?
