Manuel Neuer and £65m Bayern Munich star now expected to start against Arsenal

Bayern Munich will reportedly welcome a host of players back into the matchday squad on Tuesday to face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, namely Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane and Matthijs de Ligt.

The German giants have endured an injury crisis of sorts in recent weeks that has all-but conceded the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, with Bayern losing to minnows Heidenheim on Saturday.

With Arsenal unbeaten in the Premier League and set to face Bayern with a fully-fit squad and zero travelling fans, Tuesday is being billed as a chance for the Gunners to make a Champions League statement.

However, according to Kicker, Bayern are set to receive a massive injury boost, with the likes of Neuer, Sane and De Ligt all expected to return, alongside Kingsley Coman and Eric Dier.

Given Arsenal’s historic record against Bayern in the Champions League, the German giants receiving such a major boom in first-team options could be a problem for the north London side.

Moreover, with the Champions League the last competition Bayern could realistically win, the reigning Bundesliga holders will want to go all out to win Europe’s premier tournament.

Indeed, whilst Arsenal have what it takes to beat Bayern and to bury some long-lingering demons, Tuesday has just now got difficult for the Gunners.

Champions League statement could be made on Tuesday

Tuesday’s Champions League clash could mean more for Bayern than Arsenal, who this season have been made to look like a shell of their former selves.

Capitulation in the Bundesliga and losing to third-tier Saarbrucken have made this year one to forget for Thomas Tuchel side, and Arsenal could be the side who feel the wrath of Bayern’s recent.

This tie won’t be an easy one for the Gunners, and Arsenal will need to be at their best if they’re to book their ticket in the semi-final of the Champions League.
